The New Google+. What’s New and How It Will Impact Your Digital Marketing Efforts

New Google+

The new Google+ is out! The new re-vamped design and the new version is out on November 17, 2015. It is based on an opt-in basis. So, what’s different this time around? Here’s a brief look at how people are using the new Google+. The two main areas of interest are: Communities and Collections.

Communities section is not new to Google+. The idea was introduced back in 2012 however, people are starting to talk about various topics such as crochet, astrophotography, earthquakes according to a TechCrunch article recently published. Further, there are about 1.2 million joins of communities a day on the platform with collections seen more traction.

The Collection option has been introduced early this year. In short, it provides a medium for people to build and share content of interest based on personal topics. Individuals can share their content with the public, with a certain amount of people or make it private.

This time around Google concentrated its efforts in making Google+ easier to use. As the company moves ahead, we’ll be seeing more changes to its “social media platforms” such as Buzz, Orkut, etc. Having a more clear focus and user friendly, optimised experience is a sure win with the every changing digital landscape and short attention span of users. Let’s see how well Google does with the other social products.
